In a landmark development for Kenya's education landscape, the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results were unveiled on Thursday, courtesy of Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu. A staggering 1,406,557 candidates undertook their KCPE exams, with an additional 1.2 million participating in the KPSEA exams (Grade 6) from October 30 to November 1. This momentous occasion signifies the conclusion of the longstanding 8-4-4 education system within primary schools.
As a modern touch to result dissemination, candidates can now access their results effortlessly by sending their index number followed by the keyword "KCPE" to the designated code 40054. However, this convenience comes at a cost, with candidates incurring a charge of Ksh. 25 per SMS. This transition not only marks a shift in examination dynamics but also underscores the evolving methods of result delivery in an increasingly digitized era.
To access their results, candidates can follow a simple format: for instance, if the Index number is 123456789, they would send 123456789KCPE to 40054.
The performance spectrum is diverse, with 8,523 candidates achieving scores above 400 marks, showcasing exceptional academic prowess. A significant number, 352,782 candidates, fell within the 300-399 marks range, reflecting a commendable level of achievement. The 200-299 marks bracket emerged as the most populated, boasting 658,278 candidates. Meanwhile, 38,025 individuals secured scores between 100 and 199 marks.
A smaller cohort, consisting of 2,060 candidates, obtained less than 99 marks. These detailed insights into the distribution of scores offer a comprehensive snapshot of the academic achievements across various levels.
